Optics, Perception and Consciousness.

An invitation to look beyond the obvious.

This collection was born from my fascination with optical illusions and the architecture of our mental reality.
Each piece represents a ‘Rabbit Hole‘: hypnotic portals that defy reason and invite us to question the very process of observation.

Here, the ‘Rabbit Hole’ is not a descent into the unknown, but a journey inward.

Like life itself, what you perceive in these pieces transforms depending on the perspective from which you choose to view them. It’s a training ground for the mind: an exercise in reclaiming our freedom to choose our own perspective.

These pieces are not meant to be understood immediately. They are an invitation to pause, to slow down our thinking, and to notice what happens in the silence of interpretation. Freedom emerges when we understand that perspective is not a given, but a choice.

Although each ‘Rabbit Hole’ stems from the same technical quest (to represent the threshold of an infinite tunnel), each possesses a distinct energetic signature. Viewed together, their true nature is revealed: centers that narrow, orbits that shift, and dimensions that defy symmetry. The same, yet different. Like internal processes, like paths of consciousness, like human beings.

Each piece was designed to immediately capture the eye in any space, but its true purpose is to guide that gaze inward. They are not merely decorative; they are visual reminders that, to expand our world, we must first dare to step through the portal of our own consciousness.

The first in this series, – Consciousness – The space that contains everything.

This is the piece of broad vision. It represents that state where you cease to be the thought and become the observer of thoughts.

The invitation: Observe how your mind tries to bring order to chaos. Stay there, in the place of the witness.

Its Energy: The immensity of the mind.
It is the “rabbit hole” that reminds us that we are the space where experience occurs. Looking at it, the mind expands; it doesn’t try to solve the riddle, it simply recognizes that the labyrinth exists and that we are safe, observing it from above.

Presence

The second piece in this series. – Presence – The anchor in the vortex.

If Consciousness is expansion, Presence is absolute focus. It represents the exact point where time stops: the now.

The invitation: Feel the weight of your body. Breathe. Look at the center. You are here.

Its Energy: Stillness amidst movement. Its lines seem to converge toward a center that never ends, just like the present moment. It evokes that feeling of tranquility you find when you manage to silence the noise of the past and the anxiety of the future. It is the anchor that keeps you present while the world keeps turning around you.

The third piece in this series – Heart – is the point of integration.

This is the piece of feeling. It is the most intimate portal, the one that is not processed with the logic of sight, but with the resonance of the chest.

The invitation: Stop trying to understand. Just let the image resonate within you.

Its Energy: The pulse, the driving force, and the reason for the journey. While the other two pieces train the mind, this one caresses the emotion. It evokes the warmth of what is real within us. It is the “rabbit hole” that feels like coming home; a depth that doesn’t frighten, but embraces. It represents the center of gravity where all perspectives finally rest.

The rabbit: The guardian of the threshold 🐰

Historically, the rabbit is the one who invites us to leap into the unknown. Following the rabbit is not getting lost; it’s choosing a path of absolute curiosity where the rules of the outside world cease to apply. In this collection, the presence of the rabbit symbolizes that silent guide who accompanies us as we descend into our own consciousness. It’s not an escape from reality, but a deep immersion into it.

Behind the images

Before these paintings found new homes, I felt the need to spend time with them: to play, to observe, and to document our dance together. I spent a good amount of time in front of the mirror, exploring how the tunnel seemed to replace my head or how it sprang directly from my heart.

The day I decided to take the photos, I was looking for a specific pair of sunglasses I wanted to use. In the middle of my search, I came across this rabbit mask that I had bought some time ago for a festival.

It wasn’t my initial idea to use it, but I felt it as a gesture of synchronicity: the universe giving me exactly what I needed, not what I was looking for.

I put on my favorite music and let the flow take over. I had fun creating these images that I’m sharing here today: fragments of play, of joy, and of the magic that happens when we let ourselves be carried away by the rabbit hole of the present moment.
